Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Policy

Policy Statement

Collaborative Hong Kong Women CIC is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in

all aspects of our work. We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and

respect, and that diversity strengthens our community and enriches our activities.

We aim to create an inclusive environment where all individuals – whether service users,

children, adults, volunteers, staff, trustees, or partners – feel valued, respected and able to

participate fully, free from discrimination, harassment or victimisation.

Legal Framework

This policy is guided by the Equality Act 2010 and the nine protected characteristics:

● Age

● Disability

● Gender reassignment

● Marriage and civil partnership

● Pregnancy and maternity

● Race (including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origins)

● Religion or belief

● Sex

● Sexual orientation

We are also committed to going beyond legal requirements by actively promoting equity and

inclusion, particularly for underrepresented minority groups such as Hong Kong and Asian

diaspora communities, women, young people, LGBTQIAPK+ and those facing multiple

disadvantages.

Our Commitments

We will:

● Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation in all our services,

activities, employment and governance.

● Advance equality of opportunity by removing barriers and making reasonable

adjustments where needed.

● Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those

who do not.

● Treat all people with dignity and respect, valuing the diversity of backgrounds,

experiences, perspectives and identities.

● Ensure our activities, events and communications are as accessible as possible.

Promote an inclusive culture that encourages participation from all sections of the

community we serve.

● Monitor and review our practices regularly to ensure they reflect our commitment to

EDI.

Scope

This policy applies to:

● All trustees, staff, volunteers and contractors

● All participants in our programmes and activities (including young people and their

families)

● All partners, suppliers and external organisations we work with

● All aspects of service delivery, recruitment, training, decision-making and day-to-day

operations
